Alohi means "brilliant" or "shining" in Hawaiian — the feeling we hope every handmade piece brings into your home.
It began at a kitchen table on Oʻahu, learning stitches from tūtū the way she learned from hers — slowly, with lots of laughing and unraveling. The first project was a lopsided lei for a cousinʻs graduation. The second one was better. By the tenth, friends were asking for their own.
Alohi Threads grew from those kitchen-table afternoons into a small studio practice: plushies inspired by island animals, wearables made for warm evenings, bags built for beach days, and forever leis that hold their aloha long after the celebration ends.
Every single piece is still crocheted by hand — no machines, no outsourcing. When you order, youʻre getting hours of handwork and a little piece of the islands.
Aloha isnʻt a slogan — itʻs the care that goes into choosing yarn, counting stitches, and packing every order like a gift.
Handmade takes time, and thatʻs the point. Small batches and made-to-order pieces mean nothing is rushed and nothing is wasted.
Cotton-rich yarns, minimal plastic packaging, and designs inspired by the plants, animals, and colors of Hawaiʻi.
Kitchen-table lessons with tūtū and one very lopsided graduation lei.
A folding table, twelve plushies, and a sellout by noon. Alohi Threads was officially a thing.
Wedding leis, matching family sets, and plushie portraits of very good pets.
The studio comes online — same handmade pieces, now a click away wherever you are.
